2017 Nissan Armada Redesign Based on Patrol
By Product Expert | Posted in Nissan Armada, Nissan Concepts on Thursday, February 11th, 2016 at 10:31 pm2017 Nissan Armada Release Date
It has gone from rumor Patrol to preparing the Patrol as news breaks today at the Chicago Auto Show that these rumors are in fact true. How do we know? A better source than any “he said, she said” finger pointing tabloids found in the grocery store checkout lines, when an automotive rumor like this is confirmed at a national auto show, we can be certain.
The Patrol-based Nissan Armada will be making its debut this week at the Chicago Auto Show where our media team was able to capture the following pictures to give you a sneak peak ahead its public display date.
Next question though, when is the 2017 Nissan Armada’s release date? With its public debut being next week at the show….you would think that its arrival might be farther off than summer! That’s right, we are just one season away from the arrival of this updated, and fully reformed large SUV.
Nissan Armada and Patrol Body Frame
Shedding its frame for 2017, the Nissan Armada will be ditching the old Titan’s frame and instead sharing the body-on-frame platform that the Patrol is riding on. (There were previous rumors floating around that the Nissan Armada may be sharing the same frame as the Titan XD and grabbing a hold of its 5.0L Cummins diesel engine, but that will not be the case.)

Some of the major changes to the exterior that are immediately noticeable include:
- Nearly 4-inch-wide side rails (the old Armada had 2.4-inch)
- 2.1-inch shorter wheelbase
- Length: 1.2-inch growth spurt
- Width: .6-inch increase
- Height: 2.2-inches shorter
2017 Nissan Armada Performance Specs
Beneath the hood of this beast will be the 5.6L V8 engine that fires up 390 horsepower and 401 lb-ft of torque. Instead of its current five-speed automatic transmission, it will be replaced with a seven-speed auto and will also upgrade to direct injection. ( The current Armada cranks out 317 hp and 385 lb.ft. of torque.)
The fuel economy rating has not yet been released, but we do know that the Armada has some serious umph when it puts those horses to work, enabling it to tow up to 8,500 lbs. Drivers will also be able to select from rear wheel or four-wheel drive trim levels. Throughout the overall redesign of the vehicle, Nissan has stated that handling and comfort of the ride has been noticeably improved.
2017 Nissan Armada Trim Levels
In total, three trim levels will be offered: SV, SL, and Platinum. Depending on which trim level is selected, the Nissan Armada is able to seat up to seven passengers with its second-row captain’s chairs configuration, or can seat one more if a bench seat is selected. Higher-end creature comforts and technology options offered on the trims dress the Armada up in some luxurious armor:
SV: 8.0-inch navigation system with a 13-inch speaker stereo and heated front seats
SL: Around View Monitor, remote engine start, power third row, and a power liftgate
Platinum: Nissan advanced safety technology, panoramic moonroof, rear seat entertainment system
Be on the lookout for this next generation, flagship SUV to arrive this summer. In the meantime, we will continue to provide you with any updates that Nissan may release!
