Nissan reveals new Rogue Sport to slot under 2017 Rogue

Nissan was one of the first automakers to discover that shoppers, especially here in America, don’t mind driving something a little smaller as long as it’s just as functional. One of the main benefits of a car is its maneuverability, while SUVs are spacious and have a higher ride height. Why can’t you have both? Well, Nissan just revealed its intentions to offer the 2017 Nissan Rogue Sport, a model that slots under the standard Nissan Rogue due its smaller size. Today, we’re looking at power options and its upcoming release.
What’s special about the 2017 Nissan Rogue Sport?
OK, so it’s a smaller SUV, but that’s not the real highlight of the Rogue Sport. When it comes to sizing, its wheelbase is 2.3 inches shorter and its length is 12.1 inches shorter overall compared to the standard Rogue. It still offers up to 61.1 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats, making it an appealing choice for singles or couples who need the extra room for sporting gear, but don’t frequently use rear seating.

Available features will include Divide-N-Hide Cargo, Moving Object Detection, Around View Monitor, Forward Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Intelligent Cruise Control and Rear Cross Traffic Alert.
Engine option for the 2017 Nissan Rogue Sport
The worst thing any vehicle can do is putter along, and this would be an especially bad faux pas for a model called the “Sport.” Fortunately, Nissan seems to have realized this because the Rogue Sport will have a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine that offers up 141 horsepower and is paired with the Xtronic CVT transmission for maximum fuel economy.
There’s no word of fuel efficiency numbers at this time, but figures for the similar Qashqai found in Europe suggest it won’t disappoint. We do know that AWD will be a feature, just as it is with other Rogue options, so this might be a vehicle to watch out for if you’re looking for something smaller.
Pricing for the 2017 Nissan Rogue Sport hasn’t been announced, but it is due for a spring release this year. Stay tuned here at the Glendale Nissan Blog for more updates.
