The stork may have been struggling under the weight of this one and gotten a little lost on the flight over, but finally it’s delivering the baby brother of the Nissan Titan XD. Just this week at the Chicago Auto Show, the unveiling of the 2017 Nissan Titan standard half-ton pickup truck took place.
All of the hype boiling over the 2016 Nissan Titan XD has been brought to simmer and now…it’s time to turn back up the heat. Things are about to get really hot because the 2017 Nissan Titan standard half-ton release date is set for this summer!
Nissan Titan vs Nissan Titan XD
So just how closely related are these brothers? From an exterior perspective, it may look like they could be fraternal twins; there are a few noticeable things here and there but under their skin, it’s more like they’re distant cousins. Their exterior builds are both strong and sturdy with a large grille and the same headlights to match. Although their profiles are similar, their structure are very much separate.

What may come as a big surprise to some, the standard Titan and the Titan XD do not share any of the same chassis components. When comparing the Titans side-by-side, you’ll see that the Titan XD’s chassis is quite a bit larger. The XD is also more than a foot longer and is 1.5-inches taller than its little Titan brother. What the two do share in common is width and cab sizes. Passengers won’t have to worry about choosing one over the other because it has more space–both cabs are identical in size.
Nissan Titan Engine Specs
Although there will be two types of engines available to the new Nissan Titan, one is still currently under wraps. Nissan is strictly discussing the 5.6L V8 that is capable of 390-horsepower and 401 lb-ft of torque. It will be paired with a seven-speed automatic gearbox. What we do know about the other engine is that it will be a gas-powered V6, but fuel economy for either hasn’t been announced as of yet.
Other details are fairly standard and too be expected. Like the previous years, the Nissan Titan will be available in three cabs: Single, King, and Crew cabs. There will be three bed lengths: 5.5ft, 6.5ft, and 8 ft while there also will be the option of rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. In total there will be five trims to select from: S, SV, PRO-4X, SL, and Platinum Reserve.
