Nissan Juke gets the boot as the Nissan Kicks joins the lineup

When it was introduced in 2010, the Nissan Juke was considered a quirky subcompact SUV, and one of the first of its kind. Since then, competition has gotten broader, and it only makes sense for Nissan to reconsider its niche subcompact for something more modern. This is where the 2018 Nissan Kicks steps in, as a model that not only has an appearance that’s more in line with the DNA of other Nissan models, but will be offered with more affordable pricing. Here’s what you need to know about the model, along with its expected release date.
How is the 2018 Nissan Kicks different from the Juke?
At first glance, you might not quite notice the differences
between the Juke and the Kicks if you aren’t already familiar with the Juke. For us, the design is a substantial difference. A larger grille takes the VMotion shape that’s a standard in the lineup, while the foglights are lowered and lose the circular design, allowing for the headlights to likewise follow a more common design. The front bumper is thinner and wider, so the Kicks looks a bit like a smaller version of the new Rogue Sport.

Though official pricing hasn’t been announced for the 2018 Nissan Kicks, there’s been a good hint that it will be a high-value option, as it was announced at the LA Auto Show that the price point will fall, “well under $19,000.” An exact figure hasn’t been established, but considering the 2017 Nissan Juke had a starting MSRP of $20,250, this is an exciting hint at an even more affordable option.
Every trim of the 2018 Nissan Kicks will have the 1.6-liter 4-cylinder engine, which offers a 125 horsepower and 115 pound-feet of torque output and is paired with the Xtronic CVT.
We’ll be looking in more detail at trim levels and features closer to the vehicle’s release date, which is set for June 2018. Stay tuned here at the Glendale Nissan Blog for updates.
