Myths often start with some truth and then skew away from it altogether. Today are going to debunk some myths you may still believe about the fuel economy on your vehicle. Keep reading to learn more!
Manual transmissions are better than automatic
Back in the old auto days, this statement would have been true but as time has passed and transmission has changed, this no longer rings true. There have been so many advances in automatic transmissions that have improved their efficiency, they often have better or the same about as manual transmissions.
Smaller cars have better fuel economy
Surprisingly enough, this has almost no truth to it. Of the top fuel-efficient 2020 model year vehicles, over half of them were midsized or large cars. This is greatly due to the amount of hybrid and EVs with advanced technologies to keep their fuel economy efficient.
Your vehicle needs to warm up in the winter
Contrary to popular belief, your vehicle does not have to idle too long in the winter before it is safe enough to drive. The best thing you can do is let the engine warm-up for about 60 seconds and then slowly ease out of your parking space. Your engine will warm up faster when it is on the move compared to sitting.
