Choosing Between the Nissan Rogue and Nissan Rogue Select
Wednesday, February 5th, 2025
Nissan has a variety of SUV models, but it can sometimes be tricky to figure out how they all compare against each other. When conducting a Nissan Rogue comparison, it’s important to consider how the latest model stacks up against earlier versions, like the Nissan Rogue Select.
The Nissan Rogue and Rogue Select might initially sound similar, but they have some important differences. For starters, as of 2025, the Rogue is Nissan’s go-to compact SUV, while the Rogue Select was phased out after the 2015 model year. So, if you’re interested in the Nissan Rogue Select, your best bet is to look for a used one.
Now, let’s look at the key differences between these two models to help you decide the right fit for you.
Trims
The 2025 Nissan Rogue is available in five trims, giving you more options to find something that works for you:
- S
- SV
- SL
- Platinum
- Rock Creek
The Rogue Select, on the other hand, was a variant of the first-generation Rogue and only came in one base trim, ‘the S trim.’
Interior Space

For a roomier, more comfortable experience, the 2025 Rogue provides 105.4 cubic feet of passenger space and 36.5 cubic feet of cargo room behind the second row. When you need extra space, folding the rear seats down opens up 74.1 cubic feet of cargo capacity.
In contrast, the Rogue Select offers 102.9 cubic feet of passenger space and 39.3 cubic feet of cargo room with the seats up or 57.9 cubic feet with the seats down.
Materials
The 2025 Rogue features soft-touch plastics and leather-appointed seating in higher trims like the SL and Platinum, whereas the Rogue Select used more utilitarian materials, namely hard plastics and basic cloth upholstery throughout its interior.
Powertrain
Powertrain performance sees a significant upgrade, with the 2025 model featuring a 1.5-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine paired with an updated CVT.
In comparison, the Rogue Select had a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that put out 170 horsepower and 175 lb-ft of torque, with an older CVT. This setup resulted in a less responsive drive and slightly lower fuel efficiency.
Technology
Compared to the Rogue Select, the 2025 Nissan Rogue is packed with modern tech upgrades:
- Infotainment: The 2025 Rogue has a much larger 8-inch touchscreen on the base model, with higher trims offering a 12.3-inch touchscreen. It also includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard. Conversely, the Rogue Select had a much smaller 5-inch display and didn’t offer Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.
- Driver Assistance: The 2025 model is equipped with Safety Shield 360, which includes useful features like automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. The Rogue Select, however, only offered basic features like an optional rearview camera.
Test Drive the Nissan Rogue or Nissan Rogue Select Today
If you’re after more premium features, the Nissan Rogue might be your better choice. However, the best way to know for sure is to take both the Rogue and Rogue Select for a test drive. This will give you a real feel for what each model has to offer.
