Does the Nissan Armada redesign include a diesel?
By Product Expert | Posted in Nissan Armada on Tuesday, February 2nd, 2016 at 4:00 pmIs there a 2016 Nissan Armada?
Time out. You didn’t miss something. But those of you who are fans of the large, super-sized family SUV, are probably wondering if there is a 2016 Nissan Armada, and if there is….where did it go?
Available only in black holes, the Twilight Zone, and Bermuda Triangle, Nissan is otherwise skipping over the 2016 year model. The reason being? The all-new Titan XD diesel half-ton truck has been the primary focal point for Nissan this year. Available in five versions, the Titan XD features a brand-new Cummins 5.0L DOHC 32-valve V8 turbo diesel that has become the talk of the town. Proclaimed the “every-duty” truck, the Titan XD was forged to have a half-ton build and heavy duty capability.

2017 Nissan Armada Update
What does any of this have to do with the Nissan Armada? Light duty pickup trucks and large SUVs tend to be a brand of brothers; they have a tendency to play nicely with one another and share their toys. This being said, the Titan truck and Armada SUV share the same frame. Because the Titan was just redesigned for this year, rather than stealing the limelight from it, the Armada is holding off a year and will launch the next model for 2017.
Nissan Armada Diesel Details
This is where things get cloudy because Nissan hasn’t come forward yet with any confirmation or dismissal on whether or not there will be a diesel version of the Armada. The questions has been raised primarily because of the Titan XD’s freshly introduced Cummins turbo diesel. Currently, stacked with the 5.6L 32-valve Endurance V8, the 2015 Nissan Armada is able to tow up to 9,000 lbs.
Endurance 5.6L V8 | vs | Cummins 5.0L V8 |
---|---|---|
Gas | Power Type | Diesel |
317 HP | Horsepower | 310 HP |
385 lb-ft | Torque | 555 lb-ft |
9,000 lbs | Towing | 12,300 lbs |
A gas-powered engine is for certain on the way for the Nissan Titan XD while a diesel is still in question for the soon-to-come Armada. As soon as any details leak out or affirmations are made by Nissan about the Armada, we will be sure to let you know immediately!
