The Nissan Patrol Might Be Coming to America
By Product Expert | Posted in Nissan Armada on Thursday, February 4th, 2016 at 4:55 pmIs the Nissan Patrol Replacing the Nissan Armada?
A not-so-secretive secret is spreading across the automotive industry and it’s not only a juicy one, but a plausible one too. Just recently we brought you the news that Nissan is skipping the 2016 year model for the Nissan Armada and that it could be because the all-new Armada may be based on the recently redesigned full-size Titan XD pickup. While that is one thought, an alternative idea has just presented itself, and that is the Nissan Patrol may be replacing the Nissan Armada. (Nothing has been confirmed as of yet, but these are current discussions sweeping the auto nation.)
What is the Nissan Patrol
Time out. What’s the Nissan Patrol, I don’t see it on Nissan’s website? That’s because the Parol is sold overseas and currently is not available to the North American lineup. The Patrol, pictured below, is the rival of Toyota’s Land Cruiser.
The Nissan Patrol is a luxury 4×4 SUV with reputable off-road capability. Powered by a 5.6L V8 engine paired with a 7-speed automatic with manual mode, the Patrol is a powerful selection, able to tow more than 7,000 lbs.
The Nissan Armada, Xterra, and Patrol
After a long run, the adventures of the Nissan Xterra came to an end in 2015, but now the fate of the Armada is questionable. We’re not saying the vehicle will be axed, but the direction that Nissan plans to take currently is obscure. It could very well be redesigned based on the Titan XD and yet again it could quietly slip away if in fact the Patrol is destined for the US.
IF, again we do not know any of this for certain, but IF this is true, the Nissan “Armada” would no longer be sharing the Titan’s platform because the Patrol actually rides atop the same assembly as the Infiniti QX80. (The Infiniti QX80 was just refreshed last year and shares the same 400 horsepower engine as the Patrol; that being said, this powertrain would be fitting for the Armada….)
Nissan fans have also been questioning whether or not there will be a diesel version of the Armada. Is there a possibility that it would share the Cummins diesel V8 that was created specifically for the Titan XD? This is uncertain, but by the sounds of recent things, the new Cummins diesel is reserved for the Titan XD, and the Titan XD only–looks like it does not share as well with full size SUVs like we might have thought.
As soon as Nissan sends out a press release confirming or denying any of the above information, we will be sure to update you on the the fate of the Nissan Armada.
