Nissan Around View Monitor Compared to a Backup Camera
By Product Expert | Posted in Features & Technology on Friday, January 22nd, 2016 at 11:22 pmOnly a few years ago, rearview cameras were the latest and greatest piece of automotive safety technology. In today’s world, it has practically become an expectation to be offered if it isn’t already a standard feature. Nissan has gone a step beyond providing eyes in the back of your vehicle, but instead has created a 360-degree, bird’s eye view, which is why Glendale Nissan would like to further explain how the Nissan Around View Monitor compares to a backup camera.
Purpose of the Around View Monitor
The purpose of the Around View Monitor is to help drivers not only while backing up, but parking too. A complete view of your vehicle’s surroundings is projected on the screen centered between the driver and front seat passenger. What creates the composite image are the four wide-angle cameras located on the front, back, left, and right sides of the Nissan vehicle. The image to the right of the Nissan Versa Note gives you an idea of what the aerial view would look like.
Around View Monitor Compared to a Backup Camera
Typically, when a vehicle is put in reverse, the cameras located on the rear fascia of the vehicle are turned on, presenting a live view of what is directly behind your vehicle. While this is extremely helpful when backing up to avoid running anything over, these cameras can get covered in dirt, dust, and snow, blocking the view until cleaned off. It also only shows what is directly behind you, not what could be coming towards from an angle, or is off to the side, out of view.
Nissan Advanced Safety Technology Options
