Perhaps one of the silliest and most lighthearted things to come out of our social media-focused world are apps that alter are faces right in camera. Spend any time on Instagram, SnapChat or Facebook and you’re bound to see at least one altered face among your friends. It’s imaginative and frequently funny. For college football fans, Nissan first launched the Die Hard Fan App in 2015, but now the features are available on Facebook.
What does the Nissan Die Hard Fan App do?
Since its launch in 2015, the Nissan Die Hard Fan App has been downloaded 630,000 times, resulting in more than 42 million “tried on” masks. Essentially, the app virtually paints your face with your teams colors. Now the features are even more wildly available, as you can paint your face right from another app you probably already have: Facebook.
Facebook recently added camera effects to jump on with the popularity of augmented photos. Nissan saw this as an opportunity to bring its fun masks to the popular social media network.

Another addition to the Nissan Die Hard Fan App, is a new game-show-style trivia game called Nissan Die Hard Fan IQ, which is virtually hosted by famous Heisman winners. Essentially, it’s a fun little quiz to test your advanced college football knowledge.
In addition to launching new features for its app, Nissan has also continued its college football sweepstakes with the Nissan Heisman House competition, where fans customize an online Nissan Titan for a chance to win a real one that is custom-wrapped in team colors.
Are you on board with camera effects apps, or are you just too cool for the virtual facepaint (or even just prefer the real stuff)? Share your thoughts with a comment here at the Glendale Nissan Blog.
