Everyone knows that Nissan specializes in new cars, but as a big company, it’s also important to give back to the community. Anyone who has been suddenly without a home knows that it can be tough to go to a shelter, especially for families. Living out of a car isn’t just a stereotype of what life is like, but a reality for too many. Nissan wants to keep automobiles as a form of transportation and help those who are in a bad situation find affordable housing. That’s why we’re happy to talk about Nissan’s involvement with Habitat for Humanity, a well-known charity known for its home-building projects.
How is Nissan helping Habitat for Humanity?
Nissan is not only helping to spread the word about Habitat for Humanity projects, where you can get involved personally or make a small donation to help with the cost of materials. You’re probably aware that you can volunteer or donate money, but did you know that Nissan is also willing to put its money on the line for every post with #HomeIsTheKey. That’s $1 for every tag, up to $250,000.

On April 27, Nissan is hosting a Facebook Live event with Heisman athletes to host a youth clinic, followed by a Nissan-sponsored build on April 28.
Nissan has partnered with Habitat for Humanity for 12 years now, and in that time has donated more than $14 million and helped build 78 new homes. In addition, 143 vehicles have been donated. Time is just as important as money, and 6,000 Nissan employees have volunteered to help build homes, logging more than 86,000 collective volunteer hours.
Homelessness can be one of the most trying issues for anyone to go through, and it’s reassuring that there are charities like Habitat for Humanity that help have a direct impact on people’s lives. If you’re interested in finding out where your local Habitat for Humanity center is, you can visit the volunteer page. You can also donate money directly, or find a ReStore and feel good knowing that your purchases also help fund the organization.
