Nissan flaunts new canine-friendly Rogue Dogue at 2017 NYIAS
By Product Expert | Posted in Nissan Rogue on Friday, April 14th, 2017 at 3:04 pmWhat features make the Nissan Rogue Dogue good for pets?
Non-pet owners just don’t understand. Dogs are just as much a part of the family as anyone else, which means their safety is important too. Some of us older drivers like to laugh about the times, growing up, when we were left to bounce around the backseat, “and we survived.” Automakers, lawmakers and parents are perfectly glad that safety has improved for their tiniest passengers, but what about our dogs? Just in time for the release the newest Fast & Furious movie and the 2017 New York International Auto Show, Nissan has debuted the Rogue Dogue. Today we’re looking at the specific features Nissan incorporated into the concept to make it good for pets and their owners.
How do you pronounce Rogue Dogue?
Not the most important question, but we had to address the issue. How do you say the name? Well, we imagine you could leave the last few letters silent and pronounce it “dog,” but we prefer to let it rhyme. It’s cuter that way anyway.
So what features are included in the Nissan Rogue Dogue concept from the 2017 NYIAS?
- Secured, removable custom dog bed in the rear cargo area
- Built-in (fold-down) non-spill water dispenser and non-spill dog food dispenser
- Slide-away dog ramp for small or elderly pooches
- 360-degree (hoop and hose) dog shower with 10-gallon pressurized water reserve

- Easy-to-clean rear interior
- Second-row/cargo area pass-through
- Removable pet partition with Rogue Dogue logo between the second-row and cargo area

As you can see, the features are a mix of comfort and safety, just like features that are designed around human use. The dog bed and harness clips allow you to secure your pet during trips, but there are also pass throughs for those who prefer to let their four-legged friends roam around a bit. Dog food/water dispensers and bathing solutions keep in mind everyday care, and a dog ramp makes it easy for small or older dogs to get in and out of the vehicle. All these features were added after Nissan took a survey from real dog owners.
The Rogue Dogue interior is based on the look of the SL trim level with Platinum Reserve Interior Package. There has been no announcement of Nissan planning to release a specific package, but perhaps enough interest might convince the automaker. Would you buy a pet-specific package if it was available?
