What is Nissan NISMO?
By Product Expert | Posted in Performance & Safety on Tuesday, December 22nd, 2015 at 3:55 pmMost automakers have some high-performing vehicles in their lineups, and Nissan is no exception. In fact, there are quite a few high-octane Nissan models available. Nissan’s family of high-performing vehicles have been branded NISMO. One of the more common questions we get asked here at Glendale Nisan is “what is Nissan NISMO?” We understand there are a lot of features and models, so it can be tough to keep up with everything that’s available. We’ll go over the NISMO label and its availability through the Nissan lineup.

NIMSO essentially just stands for Nissan Motorsports and offers a simpler and catchier label for the vehicles designed for the track. The NISMO badge first showed up on a Nissan model available to the general public in 1989 on the still beloved Skyline R32. Today, vehicles like the GT-R, Juke, and 370Z have NISMO models available. Each NISMO model features a powerful, track-ready engine and sport-styling and features. These are the vehicles anyone looking for an adrenaline-heavy driving experience craves.
NISMO models participate in many popular races around the world. In fact, virtually any race that has a Nissan participating is a NISMO model and there was even a NISMO festival celebrating the brand and racing legacy this past November at the Fuji speedway in Japan.
Recently, we were also introduced to the Sentra NISMO concept. This concept turns up the Sentra’s sporty styling to 11 and offers a more powerful 240-horsepower, turbocharged 4-cylinder engine. Right now, the Sentra NISMO is just a concept, so only time will tell if it will be one of the vehicles that go into production.
We hope this has been helpful in understanding the Nissan NISMO brand. If you would like to learn more about available NISMO vehicles like the new Juke, feel free to reach out to our staff here at Glendale Nissan.
