The cold weather is behind us, and it’s finally time to get the cars back out on the road. Be it road trips or just your everyday commute, driving is much more fun in the spring and summertime. However, it is always important to know if your car is functioning correctly, especially when making sure you have properly inflated tires. To make things easier than ever, Nissan offers their Nissan Easy-Fill Tire Alert system on many of their models. So what is the Nissan Easy-Fill Tire Alert system?
Wherever you’re headed this summer, it would be a mess to have to deal with a flat tire. However, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 4/5 drivers have improperly inflated tires, meaning they are driving with tires with too little or too much air. Outside of the affects this could have on the road, it can also be costly for drivers, as properly inflated tires can save as much as 11 cents per gallon on fuel.

How Does the Nissan Easy-Fill Tire Alert System Work?
Now equipped on more than 5.3-million vehicles today, Nissan’s Easy-Fill Tire Alert hopes to make sure drivers are fully prepared with perfectly inflated tires. In fact, here are Nissan’s steps for how to use their popular feature:
- Park the vehicle in a safe location and apply the parking brake
- Put the vehicle in park (automatic transmission) and the leave the ignition in the on (accessory mode) position with the engine off
- Once air starts filling the tire, the exterior lights begin to flash to indicate Easy-Fill Tire Alert is monitoring the change in air pressure
- When the correct tire pressure is reached, the vehicle horn will sound
- If the tire is over-inflated, the horn sounds again and the hazard indicators flash three times, signaling the need to release some air
