2017 Nissan Altima vs 2017 Nissan Maxima
When it’s a safe, but sporty sedan that you’re in the market for, look no further. Affordably-priced and always prepared to impress, the Nissan Altima and Maxima continue to excel and complement one another. As members of the same family, they of course share a number of commonalities like Nissan’s drive assist display and NissanConnect system. They both are designed with Zero Gravity seats and are available with all of Nissan’s advanced Safety Shield technologies to help prevent an accident from occurring.
The 2017 Nissan Altima vs 2017 Nissan Maxima isn’t out to prove that one sedan is better than the other, but rather isolates some of the key differences between the two. And while both provide more than enough head, hip, and legroom for passengers sitting in front or in back, the Maxima is the larger sedan of the two. Each sedan carves out a deep and wide trunk that dwarfs many of their competitors. There also is a wide selection of trims to choose from, each tweaking the personality of the car slightly and switching out and adding on select features.

2017 Nissan Altima and Maxima: Sedans with Sport & Style
Even though the Nissan Altima can upgrade to the same V6 engine found beneath the hood of the Nissan Maxima, it still comes up 30 horsepower shy. Nonetheless, 270 horsepower is incredibly powerful for a sedan of its class and size, not many other midsize sedans are able to match the mighty Altima in its blend of modest fuel intake and power.
As for the Maxima, it’s all about delivering heart-pounding performance. Capable of firing up 300 horses, its cockpit beckons you to take the wheel and command the paddle shifters. Test out the Drive Mode Selector and switch gears to Sport Mode where the steering becomes heavier and shifting is lightning fast. It’s the dynamic handling and sport designed seats that will infuse any daily drive with a thrill you never thought possible.
Both having undergone recent redesigns, the Nissan Altima and Maxima both show off a more aggressive front end that bares the face of the signature V-motion grille. On either side are dazzling LED accent lights jetting from the inner corners of the boomerang-shaped headlights. The two sedans also take a lower stance in order to give a sportier profile, and behind all of the style and devilishly handsome good looks are two incredibly safe, family oriented sedans. Year after year, both the Nissan Altima and Maxima receive top marks on their safety scores in accordance to the NHTSA and IIHS.
